 AWARD WINNING REPORTER AND AUTHOR
David Lynch is a multi-award winning journalist and author with a wide range of full time and freelance experience in regional, national and international press. Among others he has reported for RTE Radio’s Morning Ireland and Today with Pat Kenny, The Sunday Business Post, Village Magazine, Magill, The Leinster Leader, Daily Ireland, The Journalist, and The Blizzard.

He has worked in the occupied Palestinian territories and in the wider Middle East. He recently spent time in Cairo, reporting on the post revolutionary turmoil and the Egyptian elections.

In 2009 he published his second book ‘A Divided Paradise: An Irishman in the Holy Land’ (New Island Books) described as “An excellent collection of memories intertwined with political analyses and history” by the Digest of Middle East Studies.

He has covered everything from sport, politics, the arts, courts and is a former member of the press gallery in Dáil Éireann. Currently based between Cairo and Dublin he is working on both fiction and nonfiction projects.

His third book, ‘Confronting Shadows- An introduction to the poetry of Thomas Kinsella’ was published by New Island in March 2015.

He is currently a journalist at The Medical Independent newspaper- where he writes exclusive news stories and longer features for the fortnightly publication. He also contributes to the online presence of the newspaper through, Twitter, Hootsuite and the website www.mindo.ie.

David just recently picked up a trophy at the prestigious Irish Healthcare Media Awards 2014. He won the ‘Digital, On-Line, Blogger Media Award’ for an article which took a look at the legacy of The Troubles and the role played by medical staff. The judges commented on ‘the originality and importance of the subject chosen for this entry: the role played by medical staff in Belfast during the Troubles.’
